
William A. Moylan, PhD, PMP®

William Moylan from Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA,
is serving his first term on the PMI Board of Directors. He
is a professional project management practitioner specializing
in consulting, training, educating, research, and providing
expert witness testimony.
A tenured professor of construction management at Eastern Michigan University, Dr. Moylan has extensive professional experience in all aspects of program and project management, including more than 11 years with the Arabian American Oil Co, and since 1983 has been involved in implementing information technology. His project experiences include new product development, quality improvement, information systems, facility engineering and construction projects within the heavy construction, oil and gas production, petroleum, chemical processing, energy, academic, government, public service, automotive and manufacturing industries.
In 2005, he completed his PhD in organization and management with specialization in leadership from Capella University, Minnesota, USA. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in construction engineering from Lawrence Technological University, Michigan, USA, and his master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, majoring in project management and minoring in international business. In 1991, he earned the Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential.
Dr. Moylan is active in a variety of professional societies and civic activities including Project Management Institute, the Engineering Society of Detroit (Michigan, USA), Habitat for Humanity and Toastmasters International. An active member of PMI since 1983, he is presently a board member of the PMI Educational Foundation. His other PMI leadership service includes certification, standards, assembly of Specific Interest Group (SIG) chairs and being an officer of several chapters and SIGs. In 2000, PMI honored him with the Distinguished Contribution Award. In 2004, the PMI Educational Foundation awarded Dr. Moylan the PMI Fellows scholarship.
